K4A/Wedgwood portrait medallion/From the Thomas Cook engraving of Pingo's/Royal Society Medal 1784 (Alfred Flaxman?)/From the original Type 2A moulds/Limited Edition of 200 commissioned by/Maggs Bros/in 1968 to Commemorate the departure/of Cook and Banks on their first voyage/in 1768'. Royal Children's Hospital Brisbane, a tribute medal, cased, gilt and 60mm (100 g), specially struck to commemorate Radiological Sciences as a Heritage medal for Clinical Radiology and Medical Imaging, obv. Amorial Bearings of the Royal Childrens Hospital Brisbane, with Hospital motto 'Healing, Teaching, Caring', rev. portrays the standing figure of Sol holding a torch and with representation of lithium atoms to left and right of the figure, the medal was designed by Emeritus Professor John Pearn AO as a gift of the Pearn family, made in 2014 as a tribute to those in this professional area. Uncirculated, one of only 10 produced and the only example available to collectors, lot comes with descriptive certificate.
