Gordian III (AD 238-244), gold aureus (4.92 g), Rome mint, issued March-May AD 240, obv. IMP CAES M ANT GORDIANVS AVG, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust of Gordian right, rev. LIBERALITAS AVG II, Liberalitas standing left, holding coin scoop and double cornucopiae, (S.8573, RIC 42, Calico 3205, C.129). A few light scratches before face, otherwise good very fine, well centred and possessing a sensitive portrait.

Light weight, some hoard patination attached, good very fine with areas of underlying lustre.
