The word 'Sydney' has been handwritted above the norml 'London' printed city of issue. The note was cashed at Mozambique on the 27th August 1914 and the details recorded on the back of the note. See further details above. Nearly extremely fine and extremely rare, especially issued in Sydney.

The word 'Sydney' has been handwritted above the normal 'London' printed city of issue. The note was cashed at sea on the 29th July 1914 and the details recorded and filled in on the back of the note which states - 'Deutsche Bank (Berlin)/ London Agency/ £5.00 London. At Sight Pay to the Order of ........... ' in five lines. And below 'FIVE POUNDS/ value received at Sea/ this 29th day of July 1914/ signature of Barbara Henry' in four lines. The words 'LOHMANN & CO.' are stamped onthe front lower border (possibly the local Sydney shipping agent that issued the note). Printed by Giesecke & Devrient - Leipzig and Berlin. Good very fine and very rare, especially issued in Sydney.
