Roman coins mostly needing conservation, third - fourth century A.D., antoninianii of Gordian III, Philip I and Severina, small bronze of Theodora, (S.3911); AE 20 of Magnentius (S.4018), and an as of Caracalla, issued in 209, rev. woman drawing out skirt, holding sceptre, two children before her (RIC -, known only for Geta RIC Pl.XVI, 8). The last apparently unpublished and very good, the Theodora good very fine, Magnentius very fine, others poor. (6)

Hadrian, (A.D. 117-138), Paduan cast medal, after Giovanni Cavino, (22.8 grams), obv. bare head of emperor Hadrian to right, HADRIANVS AVGVSTVS, rev. galley with two ranks of oars, Neptune at bow, above FELICITATI AVG, below COS III P P over SC, (Lawrence 47, Klawans 1, [p.76-77]) (illustrated); together with others, Galba (A.D. 68-9), (23.4 grams), obv. Galba head right, rev. emperor facing three soldiers, ADLOCVT in exergue, (cf.Lawrence 21, cf.Klawans 4 [p.52]); another a cast copy of Vitellius (A.D. 69), sestertius, (RIC 134). First of good style with attractive brown patina, second plugged, otherwise fine - very fine. (3)

Antinous (favourite of Hadrian), (d.A.D. 130), Paduan, bronze medal die struck, AE 40, by Giovanni Cavino, (33.3 grams), obv. bare headed bust of antinous to right, around OCT**IL*IOC MAPKE**LL*OC O IEPEYCTOY ANTINOOY, dotted border, rev. Mercury holding Pegasus and caduceus, around TIOC SXAIOIC ANE**QKE*, dotted border, (Blum 'Numismatique D'Antinoos', JIAN Vol. XVI (1914), No.3A [p.36], Lawrence 51 [p.16], Klawans 1-2 [p.84-5]). Of good style, some evidence of bi-metallic surface, cracks in the edge of the flan from striking, otherwise good very fine, very rare.

L.VERVS AVG ARM PARTH MAX TR P VIIII, laureate, draped and cuirassed bust right, rev. Roma receiving emperor, Victory standing behind, COS III, (Lawrence 62, Klawans 3 [p.95]) and a cast copy of Hadrian (A.D. 117-138) medallion, (40.1 grams), rev. emperor and soldier galloping right, (Gneechi Pl.42, 2 [a cast copy of this actual piece]. First and third pieces plugged, otherwise fine - good very fine and rare. (3)
