Manuel I Comnenus, 1143-1180, billon aspron trachy 28mm, (3.20 g), Constantinople mint, third coinage 1160-1164, obv. The Theotokos (Virgin Mary) enthroned facing holding before her the nimbate head of infant Christ facing, monogram of MP **Q*[V] either side of nimbus, rev. Emperor standing facing, holding labarum and globus surmounted by patriarchal cross to left MANuH**[L DE*C**PO]TH*C, (S.1964, Hendy Pl. 15, 9; DOC 12a). Very fine, weak in places as usual.

The Theotokos standing facing, wearing nimbus crown, pallium, and maphorium, and holding head of infant Christ facing, wearing nimbus crown; barred monogram of MHP-**Q*V, across field, rev. AN**DPON [IKO C] DE*C*POTH*c, Andronicus standing facing, wearing divitision, loros, and sagion, holding labarum and globus cruciger, and being crowned by Christ standing facing, wearing pallium and colobium and holding Gospel book; barred IC between, bared XC to right, (S.1985, Hendy Pl.18, 5-6, DOC Type 3b). Very fine/nearly extremely fine, brown patina, a well struck example for issue, rare type.

Isaac II Angelus, first reign, 1185-1195, billon aspron trachy 27mm, (4,44 g), Constantinople mint, obv. The Theotokos (Virgin Mary) enthroned facing with stars in left and right panels, monogram MP **Q*V either side of nimbus, rev. Emperor standing facing, holding cruciform scepter and akakia, manus Dei to upper right, to left I/CAA/KI/[O]C, (S.2003, Hendy Pl. 21, 2; DOC 3e.6). Spot of non active green on reverse, otherwise good very fine, rare in this condition, unusually heavy example.
