Philip II, King of Spain, letter (29.2cm x 21.3cm) on watermarked paper, addressed to the Governor of the State of Milan regarding a soldier, P.Rodriguez, who after serving twenty years was wounded, then was paid a pension of four escudos, later reduced by half, subsequently acting on Rodriguez's complaint King Philip II orders to rise the pension to three escudos, dated 18 May 1572 at Madrid, signed 'Yo el Rey', with impressed seal of Philip II affixed on reverse above addressee details, also included is a small photo of Philip II. Some small holes and thinning of paper, light paper loss at one edge, otherwise all details clear and bold, fine and scarce.
