Description

Queensland, debenture of one hundred pounds maturing on 30 June 1882, issued by The Central Queensland Meat Preserving Company Limited, dated 9 July 1873, vignette at left and impressed company seal of same design at signatures, the first interest coupon removed, back marked 'Paid 1st dividend of 8/- in 26/8/80'. Very fine.

In 1871 The Central Queensland Meat Preserving Company built a meat works at Lakes Creek as well as group housing for employees and a township was developed around it with the meatworks the dominant economic activity.
