Edgar Hoover, Director of the FBI, letter dated March 26, 1962 from Office of the Director, thanking recipent for his very kind comments in respect of Hoover's book 'Masters of Deceit', and his request for information on the menace of communism, signed personally, J. Edgar Hoover. Extremely fine.
John Edgar Hoover (1895-1972) was appointed director of the Bureau of Investigation in 1924 and then in 1935 became the first director of the new Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) of the United States. He remained director until his death in 1972. Because of his long and controversial tenure FBI directors are now limited to ten year terms.
