1826 Proof Halfpenny, George IV, 1820-30. S-3824, Peck 1434 (VS). 9.21g. two incuse lines on arms of the saltire Reverse - Similar to the penny in reduced scale. Longer stems to floral emblems and full straps to sandal. Saltire on shield occurs in two varieties the cross can have two fine incuse lines near the edges or one raised thick line biased to one side (see lot xxx below). Slight spotting, otherwise FDC and very scarce.

1831 Proof Set Case, William IV, 1830-37. 1831, S-PS2 Coronation, Two Sovereigns to Farthing (14 coins). The coins are all struck in coin alignment unless otherwise noted. With contemporary rare maroon leather covered timber presentation case fitted with brass swivel hooks. Round corners with blue velvet roundels in a 3-4-4-3 pattern with blue ribbon lifters and white silk lining to the lid. Mintage unknown but estimated at 150 -200 sets struck. The number of privately struck individual low denomination silver and copper proof coins is more significant and unknown. Very fine.

Rectangular with round corners, blue velvet roundels in 3-4-3 pattern with blue ribbon lifters and white silk lining to the lid. Nearly very fine.

1831 Proof Two Sovereigns, William IV, 1830-37. S-3828, W&R 258 (R3) 15.68g. Reverse - Ensigns' armorial (shield bearing W IV royal arms#) within an ornately edged ermine mantle drawn at the top corners by tasselled cords and surmounted by a stylised St Edwards Crown. The shield's base reveals it sits on a mostly obscured ornate chain from which hangs sinester St George and the dragon between ANNO 1831 "year 1831". A denticular border and a narrow raised rim surround the coin, typically with part wire at the edge. All parts of the design in relief exhibit delicate frosting over mirrored fields. Both sides reveal slight ghosting in accord with being hand struck by the moneyers using multiple strikes with the dies to bring up the design. Hairlines in field and slight contact marks, minute rim nicks, otherwise nearly FDC and very rare.

Reverse - Shield incorporating Ensigns' armorial surrounded by more restrained Baroque decoration (garnish) and surmounted by the St Edwards crown. This flaw is also observed in the Maundy 4d obverse, confirming a die linkage (same master tool) between the two coins. Reverse - as for one sovereign in reduced scale. Only one or two hairlines, full cameo proof FDC and very rare.

Full attractive light grey toning, brilliant unmarked plain egde proof FDC and extremely rare, one of the finest known.
