1831 Proof Crown, William IV, 1830-37. S-3833, ESC-2462, L&S 1. (R2) Davies-300. 27.83g. incuse W. W. on truncation (coin die axis). Reverse - Similar to the two sovereigns but with less ornamentation, comprising a square crowned shield of the Royal arms on an ermine mantel. This mantle is tied with tasselled cords on each corner. Beneath this is the collar and badge of the order of the garter. The date ANNO 1831 is separated at the base by St George. Dark grey and iridescent tone, minor hairlines, dies rust on neck, nearly FDC and very rare.
