Mexico, colonial issue, Philip III (Felipe III, King of Spain), 1598-1621. silver cob eight reales (39mm, 24.48gm), Ciudad de M‚xico or Mexico City Mint, dated 1620-D (asayer D), obverse, crowned coat-of-arms, reverse, coat-of-arms within ornate quadrilobe, (KM.44.2, Calic¢ 117, ME 4935). Very fine, a clear and attractive example with a full four digit date, clear assayer letter and mint mark, well struck obverse displaying most aspects of the shield, with grey tone, original surfaces and very rare.

M‚reau Hospice of the Holy Spirit (Geest-Armhuis), around PAX HVIC DOMV I ET OMNIB HABITATIBVS, in centre the fortified hospice, with an angel welcoming two men and a woman naked, in exergue, ú M ú IA ú IN ú. rev. around SCF SPTIRT ASSIT NOBIS GRATIA VT VI, the dove of the Holy Spirit wings displayed, surrounded by rays, (Min., 411; Van den Bergh -; Dugn., 420 var [Our Lady of Hanswyck]). Toned, good fine, several field knocks, rare and a very interesting example of medieval medical art.
