Italy, Calabria, Taras, (272-235 B.C.), silver nomos, stater or didrachm, (6.356 grams), obv. naked rider crowning stationary horse to right, below PhILICKOC, rev. Taras astride a dolphin to left, holding kantharos and trident, below dolphin, tripod, TARAS to right, (cf.S.374, cf.Vl.888, cf.SNG ANS 1206-7). Dark tone, slightly off centred on obverse, otherwise very fine.

Sicily, Selinus, (466-415 B.C.), silver didrachm, (7.904 grams), obv. traces of **S*ELINOTION (partly retrograde around), naked Herakles, jumping right seizing by its horn the Cretan bull which gallops right, wields a club held high in raised hand, rev. river god Hypsas naked standing facing head left, traces of HY**YAS* around, holding phiale over altar around which a snake is twined, holds laurel branch, to right crane running right, selinon leaf above, (S.908 [£900], BMC 34, SNG ANS 705 [same dies], SNG Cop 601 [similar dies]). Die flaw as a crack across the flan, porous field, otherwise good fine and rare.
