Macedon, Kingdom of, Alexander III, (336-323 B.C.), silver drachm, (4.260 grams), Abydus mint, issued c.323-317 B.C., obv. head of Herakles to right wearing lion skin with dotted border, rev. Zeus seated on throne to left, eagle in outstretched hand, **XW* over forepart of Pegasus to left, to right **ALEXANDROU*. (cf.S.6730, Price 1506, BMC 1506a-b, M.609, SNG Cop.890). Nearly extremely fine, scarce.
