Engravers &c London'(Vort-Ronald, Type two (a), comments on bank and type p.46-51, similar issued note, illustrated Fig. 44 [p.47]). Many folds and creases, with rust spots, otherwise fine and very rare.

Australian Wool Company, Sydney, one pound (payable at The Royal Bank of Australia, Sydney), not dated except 184-, printer's proof, on 'AUSTRALIAN WOOL COMPANY', imprint on the lower margin 'W.H. Bruce, Engraver and Printer Trump Street Cheapside' (Vort-Ronald p.208-9, details of bank, but Australian Wool Company not known). Much paper toning, one large hole, and other small holes, otherwise nearly fine and excessively rare, being the only known specimen.

The Bank of Adelaide, one pound, issued at Adelaide, July 5, 1870, (date printed), No. 289992, hand signed by Manager D.W. Cooper and entered by C.H. Powell Acct., with imprint on lower left, 'Bradbury Wilkinson Co, Engravers & c. London' (Vort-Ronald, p.52-56 on bank, type 2a, cf. Fig.52). Folds and creases, a few crease holes, with heavy aging tone, otherwise nearly fine, very rare and one of the earliest known notes of this bank.

Bank of Australasia, type without city name, one pound altered to five pounds, date not discernable, (18 printed) but an issue of period 1850-1860, No. 64198, hand signed by uncertain Manager and not entered, note altered from one pound to five pounds, with imprint, 'Perkins Bacon & Co, London Patent Hardened Steel Plate'(Vort-Ronald Type One (b) but printed in colour on back (p.60), and compare illustrations fig.56 and 57, also for specimen proof of £5 note copied see Spink sale Perkins Bacon Archive lot 160 illustrated but this with FIVE in oval and lot 152 for £5 in caligraphy). Heavily frayed edge with some missing frame, also many small holes, and extensive staining in area of original alterations, otherwise poor, as a forgery probably unique, and very rare for a one pound note from this bank at this time.
