Uruguay. Medal for Paraguay 1865-1869. Bronze Cross surmounted by a silver sun emblem (for junior officers) with original ribbon and pin mount. Rare. Good very fine. $ In the 'War of the Triple Alliance', the Paraguayan dictator Solano Lopez declared war on Argentina, Brazil and Uruguay. The war centring on the Paraguay River Valley, was brought to a close with the death of Lopez and total casualties of over two million on all sides.
