Lempriere & Company. Hobart Town, currency note, one Spanish dollar, 12 June 1823 (year 182 printed), No. L16, hand signed by Thomas James Lempriere, on printed form by S. Clayton, Sydney, red-brown on white, on unwatermarked paper, 'Exhibited / Et' written across. Base of note very uneven with tears and loss of bottom portion of note, otherwise nearly fine, and rare.

Bill, issued in Sydney New South Wales, 19th May 1856 and due 22 May 1858, on printed form by James W. Waugh Stationer 14 Hunter St. Sydney, numbered 288, for Ã…â€Å‣72.2.6, states 'Twenty four months after date I promise to pay Messers Morehead & Young or order the Sum of Seventy two pounds 2/6, bearing interest at 7 per Cent per annum Sterling value received, Payable at the Office of messrs Morehead 7 Young, Sydney, witness Henry T. Gilbert signed by Wm. Freshwater by his X (mark).' details on back of repayment, with three attractive vignettes of sheep, ships and farming on left. Very fine and probably unique.

Bukulla Vineyards, McIntyre River, Inverell, one pound, currency note dated Sept. 24/1870, number No.215, watermarked 'WHATMAN 1865', not is cross cancelled, marked Paid Jany. 17/71 and stamped Commercial Bankning Company of Sydney, Inverall, with signature on back, serated left edge, blue on white, (Vort-Ronald type 1a, [p.23 & 25]. Fig, 32 illustrates a similar example). Two corners missing, some tone spots, folds and creases, otherwise fine and scarce.
