Family Group: Group of Four. Military Medal (GVR) with bar for second award; 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal. Sgt W.E. Webb 1 Aust MGC/11 Bn A.I.F. MM: L.G.13 Mar 19. For conspicuous gallantry and devotion to duty during the advance south of BRAY on 26th Aug. 1918. Sgt WEBB was in charge of the gun limbers of his company. Throughjout the frequent moves forward he rendered invaluable assistance in maintaining a supply of S.A.A. and rations to the gun positions under intense machine gun and shell fire. His utter disregard of personal danger acted as a stimulus to all who witnessed him. MM (second award.) L.G. 23 Jul 19. From 25th February to 16th September 1918 Sgt. WEBB as transport Sergeant of his Company has by his great devotion to duty rendered valuable service. In the operations near Lyhons on the 10th and 11th August he personally took a limber up through a heavy enemy barrage and after picking up a sections guns moved forward with them to a position commanding an enemy strong point, arriving there close behind the infantry. This section had been depleted by casualties, and but for Sgt. WEBB'S prompt action it would have been impossible for the guns to have been up in time to cover the advance of the infantry. In the operations in August and September he never failed to get S.A.A. rations and supplies to the gun teams in the line, often under heavy fire. Together with: copy of attestation papers; service and casualty form; statement of service; copy of form AFW3121 relating to awards, and other research. Another: British War Medal 1914-18. A.Cpl M.
