Group of Four: Military Cross (GVR); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal (M.I.D.). Capt T.O. Nicholls A.I.F. M.C.engraved 'Capt T.O. Nicholls 7th M.G.Coy A.I.F.' others impressed. Very fine. $ M.C. L.G. 1 June 1917: 'has done excellent work in command of his section between March and September 1916. He has been indefatigable in his efforts to harass the enemy at all times. Ever cheerful under adverse conditions and full of resource he has always, by his spirit and example, maintained the morale of his men at a high level.' M.I.D.L.G. 2 Jan 1917. Tom Oswald Nichols was born on 27 October 1887 and died in July 1965. He joined the A.I.F. in Perth W.A. and was a master mariner in civilian life. Also recommended for a bar to the M.C.
