Group of Four: Military Cross (GVR); 1914-15 Star; British War Medal 1914-18; Victory Medal (M.I.D.). Capt T.O. Nicholls A.I.F. M.C.engraved 'Capt T.O. Nicholls 7th M.G.Coy A.I.F.' others impressed. Very fine. $ M.C. L.G. 1 June 1917: 'has done excellent work in command of his section between March and September 1916. He has been indefatigable in his efforts to harass the enemy at all times. Ever cheerful under adverse conditions and full of resource he has always, by his spirit and example, maintained the morale of his men at a high level.' M.I.D.L.G. 2 Jan 1917. Together with: Gallipoli Medallion in case of issue; A.I.F. casualty form (severely wounded in attach on broodsciende Ridge on 4 October 1917) copy of casualty form-active service; record of officers' services; copy of A.I.F. statement of service; copy of application for A.I.F. commission; copies of telegrams relating to W.I.A; copy of medical case sheet; extract from 28 Bn unit history; photograph of recipient; copies of personal correspondence and 3 MGC badges. Tom Oswald Nichols was born on 27 October 1887 and died in July 1965. He joined the A.I.F. in Perth W.A. and was a master mariner in civilian life. Also recommended for a bar to the M.C.
