British Victorian era 2nd Life Guards officer's sword, features a flat back blade (98cm), etched pattern at top and mid-point of blade and includes crowned VRI cypher, near the guard is a PROVED mark, the grip is leather wrapped with twists of wire and the plated guard is voided in parts and features a crown above an intricate pattern and at the bottom has the number 2, all in brass, and at each side of the guard are evenly spaced brass knobs, the pommel is textured silver plate with a knob on top, the scabbard is silver plated with two brass belt hanging brackets and with a decorative brass chape (total length including handle and scabbard 119cm). Some wear to the plating on the scabbard and a few small sections of the guard, otherwise very fine.

WWI RAF 1907 Pattern bayonet, manufactured (10 '18) October 1918, by Wilkinson, impressed on the metal pommel on the underside '28', on the attachment side '38', and on the opposite side 'R.A.F./1D/7600', and on the scabbard the locket is marked '008'. The leather section of the scabbard has been blackened, the blade has been used and there is wear to the stampings on the ricasso area, otherwise fine.

Japan, WWII Navy officer's katana, Choi-joi Temper Showa era hand made blade (65.7cm long), sharkskin wrapped tsuka (handle) with gilt floral menuki and bamboo mekugi (peg), with a silvered brass fuchi that matches the koiguchi at the top of the saya (scabbard), a bronze tsuba with rays emanating from the centre on both sides, there is a brass push-pin to ensure the sword remains in the saya which is enamelled black colour and it has two sword belt loops as well as a decorative lower fitting and a kojiri (end guard). The sword blade with some areas of light oxidation, silvered fittings with rubbing, a few dents and loss of enamel on saya, otherwise very fine.

Some minor damage, otherwise free of repairs and reconstructions and in good condition considering its age.

Ottoman Empire, 17th-18th century, wootz dagger, also known as 'Court Dagger', a side arm of the nobilities visiting the courts of the Ottoman Empire, the blade is finely fullered 35.5cm long and tapering to an acute tip, forged from good wootz (Damascus, watered) steel, the bone grips with good age patina and with a very finely chased grip strap and pommel cover, the scabbard is wood covered with black leather and mounted with very finely chased silver locket and chape, the silver parts are proof marked, total length including scabbard 45cm. Minor damage to the grip strap and a few dents on the high points of the decorative design on the silver, otherwise very fine and rare.

Lot 3505 Sale 120 Militaria - Ottoman Empire Collection

Ottoman Empire, 18th century, superb quality Pala kilij, extremely well made Damascus steel slightly curved blade in a typical Pala form, with reinforced T-spin section and yelmen, cut on each side with a broad short fuller, decorated with a silver koftgari calligraphic cartouche on one side and shaped panels on both sides of the forte, the back edge and the yelmen damascened with silver scrolls, the hilt composed of a grip with scales rising to a bulbous pommel in a characteristic Ottoman style and with hole for the suspension tassel, bounded by pairs of brass washers and enclosed by engraved brass strips, with an engraved brass cross-guard with bud-shaped terminals, with a leather-bound wooden scabbard stitched with spiral wire and mounted with a large brass locket with a band fitted with two loops for suspension and a large chape all decorated en suite with embossed and engraved foliage (overall length in scabbard approx 83.8cm and without the scabbard approx 80cm). A repair in the outer grip-scale between the back strap and cross-guard, brass mounting slightly worn with some scratches and minute dents, of very good quality and very fine condition.

Ottoman Empire, late 18th - early 19th century, yataghan sword with 60cm Damascus blade forge welded from several twisted steel rods in a pattern known as 'Turkish Ribbon', flat back edge, the grips are bone and the bolsters as well as the grip strap are silver with filigree work, with original scabbard, velvet covered in centre with bullion strip on one side and with large chased silver locket and chape, total length including scabbard 76.5cm. Blackened areas and shallow pitted spots on the blade, some dented spots on the locket and the chape tip is replaced, otherwise very fine.

A few small spots with loss of leather on scabbard and some dents in silver locket and chape, otherwise very good.

Small chip at bottom on one side of bone handle, otherwise very fine.
