1887 Proof Double Florin (Four Shillings), Victoria, 1837-1901. S-3922, ESC-2696, L&S 97, Davies 540 (R). 22.34g. Obverse - Joachim E. Boehm's Jubilee bust with small crown and veil, J.E.B. on truncation. Reverse - Roman I in date; Royal Arms present as four crowned shields in cruciform pattern centred by a Garter star. In the angles are four sceptres featuring symbols for the three kingdoms, i.e. England (sceptre with a cross), Ireland (harp) and Scotland (thistle). The interupted legend reads REG: 18 (crown) 87 FID: (crown) DEF: (crown) BRITT: (crown). This reverse takes inspiration from the 17th C Thomas Simon's five guineas design. However, the public soon gave the disparaging moniker "radiating kitchen pokers and tea trays." Brilliant, reverse blue toned, FDC and rare.

1887 Proof Half Crown Pattern, Victoria, 1837-1901. S-3924, ESC-2772, Davies 640 (R). 13.94g. Obverse - Joachim E. Boehm's Jubilee bust with small crown and veil, J.E.B. on truncation. Initial bust (very rare) with 20 pearls to broach instead of 16. A large gap on Obverse between rim and effigy and different veil design on bottom RHS. Reverse - Ornate crowned square shield of arms , over the Garter, the whole enclosed by the Collar of the Order with its gartered English roses and elaborate knots. The date is split either side of St George and the legend reads BRITANNIARUM REGINA FID : DEF : Deep blue grey toned brilliance, gem FDC and rare.

Bevelled narrow rim and upward stroke of R letter has serif on the left side in GRATIA. Reverse - As per the shilling with a square-topped crowned shield of arms within the garter, the crown breaks through the garter. On this coin, the garter fills the whole interior of the crown, and a dot (in relief) is present under the date - An extremely scarce die variety. Deep blue grey tone, brilliant FDC and extremely rare.

The left side of the crown has seven pearls^Reverse - Merlen's 1822 design was modified by L.C. Wyon, substituting St Edwards with the Imperial crown above Arabic numeral 3, which splits the date; near the rim, two oak branches form a wreath tied by a ribbon at the base.^Dark blue grey toned, brilliant FDC and scarce.

Inside comprises blue velvet roundels in a 4-4-3- pattern with white silk lining to the lid. Mintage unknown part of the 797 sets struck. Very fine.
