Sicily, Syracuse, Time of Dionysios the Elder, (405-380 B.C.), gold fifty litrae or decadrachm, (2.89 g), by Euainetos, issued 400-390 B.C., obv. laureate male head to left of river god Anapos, dotted border, around **SURAKO SION*, rev. **SURAKSION* between two fine exergue lines, free horse prancing right in incuse square field, (S.951, SNG ANS 340 [same dies], D.Berend "Le Monnayage d'or de Syracuse sous Denys I, [Atti del VIII Convegno del Centro Internazionale di Studi Numismatici [Naples 1983] No. 1). Toned, good very fine and rare.

Egypt, Kingdom of, Ptolemy III Euergetes, (246-222 B.C.), gold oktadrachm or mnaeion, (27.77 g), Alexandria mint, commemorative issue struck under Ptolemy IV 221-205 B.C. obv. radiate diadem bust of Ptolemy III to right, wearing aegis with trident over left shoulder, middle prong ends in lotus finial, dotted border, rev. radiate and filleted cornucopiae, **DI* below dotted border, around **PTOLEMAIOU BASILEWS*, (S.7825, Sv.1117, BMC 103-4 [p.56], SNG Cop.196). Well centred, extremely fine, with some underlying mint bloom, very rare.

Jupiter seated left on throne, holding thunderbolt and sceptre, IVPPITER CVSTOS around, (S.1930, RIC 52, BMC 67, C.118); silver denarius, issued c.64-65, Rome mint, (3.04 g), obv. laureate head to right of Nero, around NERO CAESAR AVGVSTVS, rev. Jupiter seated left on throne, holding Victory, thunderbolt and long sceptre, IVPPITER CVSTOS around, (S.1943, RIC 53, BMC 74). First coin extremely fine with traces of mint bloom and rare in this condition. Second coin a superb condition example, dull grey patina, good extremely fine and extremely rare in this condition.
