Two incuse strokes across the weight signify two unciae, very fine and rare.

Byzantine weight, 5th-7th Century, A barrel-shaped spherical commercial weight, 9x10 mm, bronze Sextula (1/6 ounce) weight (4.73 g); cylindrical with a slightly bulging center and with a flat top and bottom. The top bears a center punch flanked by the incuse cut engraved letter **G* a symbol = 1/6 uncia or 3 scripula, similar letters as traces on the bottom side, (cf.Bendall P.8 for symbol and p.25 for similar larger weights and Munz Zentrum Sale XXXVII [8th November 1979, lot 4145 for symbol). Some original metal showing through, very fine and rare.

Byzantine weights, 5th-7th Century, A group of weights, including barrel-shaped, 15 mm x 18 mm, bronze quarter Uncia (quarter ounce) weights (6.68, 5.95, 6.24 g); cylindrical with a slightly bulging center and with a flat top and bottom. The top bears a center punch flanked by the incuse cut letters partially visible; also includes square block (28.12 g) for one uncia (needing conservation for letters etc); together with ball shaped weight (23.37 g), and several other shaped ornamental objects with holes or loops to carry on a chain? (11.41, 2.23 g), (cf.Bendall P.25, 37 similar weights). Green and brown earthen patina with some original metal showing through, nearly fine - very fine all scarce or rare. (7)
