South Africa Republic, De Nationale Bank der Zuid-Afrikaansche Republiek Beperkt, Ermelo Branch, cheque no.0413 dated 21.6.1898, for thirty pounds, written in Afrikaans, with embossed duty stamp and bank's paid stamp, with coat-of-arms of Transvaal at the top and floral and scroll design at left margin. Spike hole as usual, small paper loss on tip of one corner, fine.

World sculling championships antique wood engraving, 1877, (approx 12.5x22.5cm), part page illustration in colour as published in The Graphic Sept. 8, 1877, p220, with text and images on back being p219 of The Graphic, title of work, 'The sculling championship of the world - the contest on the Parramatta River at Sydney between Messrs. Trickett and Rush', matted to approx size 26x34cm. No centre fold but there is a centre fold image evident in printing from original, otherwise extremely fine.

Autograph book, with drawings throughout (approx 28), some portraits but mainly cartoons by famous cartoonist during the period 1935-1940, mostly in colour, noted drawings of Ginger Meggs signed by the creator, Jimmy Bancks, others by such people as Hal Quinlan of Smith's Weekly fame, Theo Batten, as a young man and who later created the 'Lucky Cat' strip for the Sun Herald and who also won the coveted Wakely Award in 1972, also Noel Cook of the Telegraph, Jack Baird, cartoonist and WWII war artist for the Sunday Sun, Stuart Peterson a freelance artist to newspapers in Australia and New Zealand, many others. (written) 569 - Littleton, being a recipt signed by Thomas Coutts as attorney for George Gefferina for Fifty pounds in recognition of granting aid for carrying on war or other occasions to the King and paid from the fund created from rates and duties on alcohol. Some foxing, loss of paper on one fold and a few other small areas and along bottom edge, otherwise very good and scarce.

Earl of Sandwich signature, on a promissory note, London Oct 8th 1791, to pay to the Earl of Sandwich or to his order, one thousand pounds, signed by Fasham Nairn, with impressed II Shillings duty stamp, on the reverse signed, 'Sandwich' and below his signature, 'Received the contents' and signed Wm Martin, at the bottom edge has been written at a later date details of the Earl of Sandwich and his government posts, also written across the front bottom edge, 'Recommended by Lloyd who was to have guaranteed the Bond but went out of Town and died'. Very fine.

Duke of Wellington signature, on section of envelope addressed to Messrs Coutts, stamped 'FREE/27JA27/1831', with his signature below and with contemporary letter detailing his titles from the establishment of the Family Wesley or Wellesley, founded in Ireland in 1172 and from his birth on 1 may 1769 with his various titles and the dates bestowed, concluding with the sentence, 'Prince of Waterloo = Conferred by the King of the Netherlands (after the Battle of Waterloo), all written in ink. Signature on envelope written by one of the most famous military and political figures in modern history, a few paper splits at top of letter, otherwise in excellent condition, very fine.
