Justinian I, (A.D. 527-565), Carthage Mint, silver half siliqua, issued 537-552, (1.06 g), obv. diademed draped and cuirassed bust right, around DN IVS[TINI]ANVS PP AV, rev. large monogram, cross above, retrograde S below, all within linear border within wreath, (MIBE 53 var, SB 254, BN 8-11). Attractively toned with some lustre, good very fine - nearly extremely fine and rare.

Arab-Byzantine, imitating Justin II and Sophia type, (c.late 7th century A.D.), AE follis (6.86 g), Gerasa (= Jerash) Mint, issued year 12, obv. Justin II and Sophia enthroned, rev. capital M, cross above, A under M, traces of retrograde NIKO below, XII left, crude strike as usual for this mint, (S.-, cf.Grierson 612, Kovacs IX lot 376). Dark brown patina, fine and very rare.
