Lot 1263 Sale 89 Miscellaneous

Fred Elliott watercolour, (15.5cm x 35cm), bordered and framed under glass with a hand-carved timber frame, typically of this artist it features a Sydney Harbour scene, significantly of interest as it depicts the arrival of the first Royal Australian Fleet as it enters through the Heads of Sydney Harbour on 4 October 1913, signed in the right-hand corner, 'F.Elliott' and in the left-hand corner the artist has inscribed, 'Australian Fleet / Entering Syd Har'. Some foxing, also considerable foxing on reverse of frame-glass, nonetheless an historic piece and fine.
