Territory of New Guinea, Edward VIII, pennies, 1936. Tied in fourteen lots of twenty and one of eleven and in original Commonwealth of Australia cloth bag, uncirculated. (291)
This lot of approximately ú1 and 5 shillings of freshly minted pennies was saved like so many following the King's abdication. They are sold on behalf of a niece of the original owner, William Elworthy, an engineer with the Rabaul Electric Light Company who was accidentally killed in New Guinea while photographing the eruption of a volcano at Rabaul in 1937.
