Caria, Myndus, (2nd century B.C.), silver drachm, (4.275 grams), obv. laureate head of Zeus to right, rev. **MUNDION TAURIWN*, either side of the head-dress of Isis, border of dots, (cf.S.4915 [£150], BMC -, SNG Cop. -, Von aulock -, Finland -). Good very fine and very rare, and possibly an unpublished magistrate.

Baal of Tarsus seated to right with head facing, holding eagle-tipped sceptre over right shoulder and ear of corn and bunch of grapes in left hand, thymiaterion in background, 'Baal tarz' in Aramaic behind, crenelated wall around as border, rev. the sky-god Ana pointing towards Datames (named Tdnnm in Aramaic), thymiaterion between them, all within shrine, (S.5646, ANS MN 31, 1986 Moysey, p.53 type 5, SNG von Aulock 5943, SNG Cop. 301). Scratches in field, off-centred on obverse, otherwise very fine and rare.

Cilicia, Satrap of Cilicia, Mazaios, (361-334 B.C.) silver stater, (10.912 grams), Tarsus mint, obv. Baal of Tarsus enthroned to left holding corn ear with bunch of grapes and lotus-headed sceptre, behind Aramaic legend 'Baal tarz', below and left of throne other letters, rev. lion left on the back of a bull kneeling left which it attacks with teeth and claws, above Aramaic legend 'Mazdai', symbol below, all within circle of dots, (S.5650, cf.BMC 52, SNG Levante 106). About as struck with golden patina, proof like field, choice good extremely fine and very rare in this condition.
