Syria, Kingdom of, Antiochus I, (280-261 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.665 grams), Series II group A, Bactra mint, issued 268-261 B.C., obv. diademed head of Antiochus I to right, dotted border, rev. Apollo seated left on omphalos, holding arrow and bow, on right, **[B]ASILEOS and to left **ANTIOXOU, to left under arm a monogram of **L[T] within circle, (Newell ESM 705, SNG Israel I (Spaer) 327-8, ACNAC Houghton 1289). Dumpy flan, all known examples generally worn, porous reverse, nearly very fine/nearly fine, very rare.
