Syria, Kingdom of, Seleucus I, (312-280 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.664 grams), Seleucia on Tigris mint, c.300-299 B.C., Series II, obv. head of Zeus to right laureated, within dotted border, rev. Athena, brandishing a spear and holding shield standing in chariot drawn by four horned elephants, on left B, anchor and **DI* above, in exergue **SELEUKOU*, to left **BASILEWS*, (S.6831, Newell ESM 29 [obv.A31, rev. P.98 same dies]). Off centred on both sides, otherwise fine/nearly fine, rare.
