Has porosity in fields, surface scratches, but from a distinctive pair of dies, nearly very fine and a scarce die combination.

Sicily, Siculo-Punic, 'Carthage' (c.410-395 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (17.436 grams), obv. forepart of a bridled horse to left, crowned by Nike above flying to left, grain ear before horse, line border, rev. palm tree with drooping branches and two date clusters, legend across field 'QRT/HDST'. (cf.S.6426, Jenkins SNR 1974 (Vol.53) No.30 [p.38] and Pl.4; SNG Lloyd 1607). Good very fine with a delightful tone and black patination on the highlights, only three recorded by Jenkins and extremely rare.

Athena enthroned to left, supporting Nike, to inner left a cult statue, to far left a crescent, in exergue a monogram of O/I, to left **BASILEWS to right **LUSIMAXOU, (cf.S.6814, Thompson 220, Arnold-Biuchi 73/72 [dies of obv.8, rev.33?, obverse illustrated as Pl.3 O8]). Well centred and with a very high relief, minor abrasion on the head of Athena, but struck on a full flan with a superb eye, extremely fine and very rare, possibly a previously unpublished die combination.
