Julius Caesar, silver denarius, issued 49-48 B.C., moving mint with Caesar, (3.83 g), obv. Elephant to right trampling on serpent CAESAR in exergue, border of dots, rev. simpulum, sprinkler, axe and priest's hat all in dotted circle, (S.1006, C.443./1, BMC Gaul 27, Sear Julius Caesar 49 [p.111]). Surface porosity, repaired edge chip at base of obverse, very fine and scarce.

CAESAR to right, Aeneas walking left, carrying Anchises and palladium, dotted border, (S.1402, Cr.458/1, Syd.1013, RSC Julius Caesar 12). Lightly toned, mild surface pitting, struck slightly off centre, good very fine - nearly extremely fine and scarce in this condition.

Mettius, obv. wreathed head of Caesar to right, CAESAR IMP before, lituus and simpulum behind, rev. Venus Victrix standing to left, holding Victory on extended right hand, and sceptre in left hand, her left arm resting on shield set on globe, to right M METTIV[S], control letter K in left field, (S.1419, Cr. 480/3, Syd. 1056). Toned, good very fine with an attractrive portrait, scarce type.
