Black Opal, solid, 443.56 carats (76x50x16mm), blue green/blue, known as 'The Pacific' so named after the largest sea, the Pacific Ocean and owing to its colour. Discovered at Lightning Ridge in 1989, this unique gem stone was recorded as the largest in the world in the 1990 edition of the Guinness Book of Records. It is of a freeform oblong cabochon shape with a large blocky pattern. Its appearance in auction is a once in a lifetime opportunity to own an Australian mineral specimen icon.

The outer cardboard case with some wear and loss of paper, the padded case very fine, the chess set and board extremely fine.

Surveyor's pocket altimeter, aneroid barometer type, half Hunter pocket watch style case hallmarked for silver, white dial marked, 'Compensated/No 1784/Kilpatrick & Co, Melbourne', case and altimeter made in England, black numerals and other markings and indicator hand, range goes up to 5,000 feet, with suspension loop at top, case made in London in 1912 by ATO (Albert Thomas Oliver), there are also hallmarks on either side of the bow swivel which reads made in 1907 by CH (probably Charles Hill), in a fitted carry case in leather and inside lined with velvet and silk, under lid marked in gold print for 'Stanley, 286 High Holborn, London W.C.1'. Scratch at top centre of dial and missing reset button, otherwise good fine.

Silver card case, cigarette style case (approx 5.8x8.8cm), appears to be silver, inside with leather compartments, a thin ivory fold-over sheet and a silver pencil, outside ornately engraved pattern on front and back and on the front is a plain area with initials, 'FCA'; chromed steel cigarette case with black plastic feature on the back and two stripes on front, with cigarette lighter on top, made by Ronson; watch marked Le Roi, Paris, key wind (key included), set into a gilt hinged-lid brown tortoise shell plastic case decorated with gold around the watch face, clip-lock to close, when opened there is an ivory sheet (one corner missing) with an ivory cased pencil fitted to it, internal elastic strap missing from behind sheet (easy to fix), on the reverse is a small gold shield inscribed, 'A.Y.V./from/M.E.C.' (appears to be this but worn and hard to read). The card case good very fine, the cigarette case good, the last case with a crack on the front, working condition of watch unknown, otherwise good fine. (3)

Life Association/on the occasion of the opening/of the New Office/25.1.15'; small silver oval bowl with voided pattern (approx 21x10cm), hallmarked on base for Sheffield 1894 by maker 'J.D & S' (James Dixon & Sons Ltd) and also impressed 'Hardy Bros/Sydney & Brisbane.'; small silver oval condiment bowls (2) with floral pattern (approx 12x6.5cm), hallmarked for Chester 1896 by maker 'W.A' (William Aitken). Fine - very fine. (4)

Decorative tin, with what appears to be an Indonesian volcano and jungle scene on the lid, solid and heavily bronzed and on the inside is silvered, around the side is decorated with flowers, on the base is a mark of the letter P inside a diamond shape (approx diameter 15.5cm, height 7cm); also two ancient Roman minor coins in bronze. The tin good very fine and unusual, the coins very worn. (3)

Stevens, Thomas, The First Touch, Rugby memorabilia woven in pure silk, Stevengraph, Coventry, England, c1870, an astonishingly detailed & intricately embroidered silk rugby piece, depicting a player, ball tucked under his arm, streaking to the goal at the left, leaving opposing team literally in the dust, the players are dressed in breeches and caps, the team about to score in the yellow shirts and their opponents are in blue shirts, mounted on a period mount with the title stamped below the silk piece, with a printed advertisement for Thomas Stevens on verso. Rare find and very fine.
