Australian Related, Norddeutsher Lloyd (Shipping Company), Circular Note for Five Pounds, issued in SYDNEY on 6th July 1914, to a Miss Barbara Henry, No. A 01763. The word 'Sydney' has been handwritted above the normal 'London' printed city of issue. The note was cashed at sea on the 29th July 1914 and the details recorded and filled in on the back of the note which states - 'Deutsche Bank (Berlin)/ London Agency/ £5.00 London. At Sight Pay to the Order of ........... ' in five lines. And below 'FIVE POUNDS/ value received at Sea/ this 29th day of July 1914/ signature of Barbara Henry' in four lines. The words 'LOHMANN & CO.' are stamped onthe front lower border (possibly the local Sydney shipping agent that issued the note). Printed by Giesecke & Devrient - Leipzig and Berlin. Good very fine and very rare, especially issued in Sydney.
