Anglo Saxon, Offa (757-796), silver penny, Group II, c.787-792, Canterbury mint, obv. +EALHMVND around bust of Offa to right, rev. OFFA REX cross of lobes with cross pattee of pellets in centre and trefoil-headed sceptre on each limb, (S.905, N.299, Blunt 'Anglo Saxon Coinage' essays to Stenton, type 43 same dies). Surface slightly pitted, otherwise nearly very fine and extremely rare.
