Valentinian III (A.D. 425-455), solidus, Ravenna mint, (4.42 grams), Imitative issue by barbarians, obv. diademed, draped and cuirassed bust to right, rev. Emperor Valentinian III standing facing, holding long cross and Victory, with foot on serpent, (C.19, cf.S.4291). Letters and style barbarous, original dies somewhat defaced, has been mounted, otherwise fine and very rare.
