New South Wales, five shilliings or holey dollar, 1813, struck from a Charles IIII Mexico City Mint eight reales dated 1794 (dies B/9-II/1, not listed in Mira/Noble). Well struck countermarks, the H for Henshall weak as usual on this die, the eye of the king visible on the original matrix (coin) thus making this an attractive holey doller, lightly toned good fine, (the countermarks very fine) and rare, especially in this condition.

Reverse countermark clear, heavily worn coin, fair. Bought in Tasmania in 1889 by E. Best, passed on to R.L.Best about 1927, notes sold by Max Stern & Co., in 1975 and sold privately by Spink Australia in 1981.
