Peru; Vicuna 'manta'; woven vicufia wool; natural clours; pink strips in traditional colours; aniline dye; velvet edging; 1920s. Arequipa; (Peruvian Government Vicuna permit attached). The manta is worn by women around their shoulders. This one is for festive occasions (mantas for ordinary uses are larger so that loads can be carried in them on the wearer's back). This item is very unusual and rarely offered for sale anywhere.
