Sicily, Syracuse, Philistis wife of Hieron II (275-215 B.C.), silver sixteen litrai, (12.82 g), issued 217-215 B.C., obv. diademed and veiled head of Philistis to left, thyrsus to right behind, rev. quadriga to right driven by Nike with horses walking, above crescent and **BASILISSAS*, below **FILISTIDOS*, A off flan to right, (S.989, SNG ANS 876, Caltabiano [QT XIX] p.169, 175 note the letters]). Bright, minor cleaning marks, otherwise nearly extremely fine/extremely fine and rare.

SNG ANS 880-1, SNG Cop. 825). Extremely fine, bright surfaces and very rare.

Artemis standing left in short chiton with quiver on shoulder and discharging an arrow from her bow, at her feet a hound running left, to right **SURAKOSIWN*, to left **CAR*, (cf.S.997, BMC 652, cf.SNG ANS 1218). Lightly toned, sharply struck, extremely fine with a powerful portrait, rare.

Light grey tone, good very fine, well centred, very attractive and rare.
