Germany, Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Friedrich Ulrich, (1613-1643) two thaler, 1618 (counterstamped 2 on reverse)(70mm; 56.72g), Clausthal Mint, HS (Henning Schreiber), obv. Duke Friedrich Ulrich on horseback to the right, his left hand to the rein and his right holding a sceptre or staff whilst attired in court dress with flowing robe, rev. arms of the Duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel flanked on either side by a Wildman with plumed head-dress each holding an uprooted fir tree (KM.83, Dav.LS41). Lightly toned, nearly very fine and rare.

Germany, Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, August II, (1634-1666) two thaler, 1655 (65mm;57.11g), Goslar or Zellerfield Mint, HS (Henning Schluter), obv. Duke August proceeding on horseback to the right, reins in his left hand and right carrying a sceptre, attired in armour and plumed hat, rev. the arms of the Duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel adorned with floral ornature and surmounted by five crested helmets heightened with coronets, the central crest of the dukes of Brunswick and Luneburg consists of a column, surmounted by a crown, between two facing sickles embellished with peacock rosettes, in front of the column is a horse courant left (the heraldic ensign of Brunswick and Hannover)(KM.451.1, Dav.LS.570). Attractively toned, nearly extremely fine and rare thus.

Duke Rudolf Augustus on horseback to the left, his left hand at the rein, his right holding a long staff or sceptre, rev. the arms of the Duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel adorned with floral ornature and surmounted by five crested helmets heightened with coronets, the central crest of the dukes of Brunswick and Luneburg consists of a column surmounted by a crown, between two facing sickles embellished with peacock rosettes, in front of the column is a horse courant left (the heraldic ensign of Brunswick and Hannover)(KM.531.3, Dav.LS.114).
