Germany, Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel, Rudolf August II, (1667-1704) two thaler (2 stamped in obverse), 1686 (63mm;58.18g), Zellerfeld Mint, Rudolf Bournemannm obv. Duke Rudolf Augustus on horseback to the left, his left hand at the rein, his right holding a long staff or sceptre, rev. the arms of the Duchy of Brunswick-Wolfenbuttel adorned with floral ornature and surmounted by five crested helmets heightened with coronets, the central crest of the dukes of Brunswick and Luneburg consists of a column surmounted by a crown, between two facing sickles embellished with peacock rosettes, in front of the column is a horse courant left (the heraldic ensign of Brunswick and Hannover)(KM.531.3, Dav.LS.114). Obverse rubbed under horseman, toned, good very fine/nearly extremely fine.
