Masonic jewel, c1870, in gold (18ct, 37g, 37.5mm x 64mm) by H.Newman (Melbourne jeweller), a central six pointed star enclosed in a circle backed with blue enamel, circle inscribed 'Deo Regi Fratribus Honor Fidelitas Benevolentia', star inscribed 'Beauty / Wisdom / Strength / Truth / Peace / Concord', the outer border is set with six rose cut diamonds between engraved star points, the whole enclosed within a decorated cast frame with voided brackets above and below, the jewel is suspended from an ornate clasp with another pin backed clasp with smaller bar on a ribbon, uninscribed. Good extremely fine.
