Japanese WWII memorabilia: parts of first Japanese bomb on Port Moresby; Army Book; felt purse, home - made, containing Japanese minor coins; pocket diary 1942; razor blade (cut-throat type) in wooden scabbard but with missing handle; pocket compass with Japanese lettering but with glass face cracked; steel balls used in mechanical game of Pachinko; small parcel of unknown Japanese papers; Japanese combs handmade from bamboo, one narrow and one wide; Japanese handmade bamboo curtain container. The first seven items are housed in packets describing item, origin and the name of the Australian soldier who retrieved the item. Very good - fine. (11)

Miscellaneous: Assortment of photos, cards and cigarette cards, mostly military related but also includes several featuring early Sydney and flood scenes in country New South Wales. Of particular interest is a series of photos relating to Pte W.W. Martin 58 Battalion A.I.F. KIA 29 September 1918 along with letters of sympathy from King George V and the Secretary of State for War. Many other named photos in the lot. There is also a Royal Air Force Convoy Note dated 1 July 1945 and signed by the vehicle driver LAC Goldberg and the recipient Corporal S Broadbelt. According to information supplied by the latter, following delivery of this consignment, Goldberg stole ammunition from the camp and while en route to Palestine he was captured and subsequently tried and executed. An interesting lot. Very good - very fine. (approximately 100)

WWI Postcards. An assortment of postcards sent by 2367 Private Hamilton McLachlan 34th Battalion A.I.F.to his mother. Pte McLachlan was awarded the Military Medal, Mention in Despatches, and French Medal of Honour - Bronze for war services. The cards include a Field Service Post Card, two Australian Comforts Fund cards as well as three photos of McLachlan with his Army tent mates, a battlion group photo and an ANZAC Day reunion photo. On his return to Australia he became a police officer and later was awarded the Imperial Service Medal. An interesting lot to an Australian war hero. Very fine. (15)
