Sicily, Syracuse, Kingdom of, Agathocles, (317-289 B.C.), silver tetradrachm, (16.610 grams), obv. head of Artemis-Arethusa to left, surrounded by three dolphins, with dotted border, trace of NK below, rev. galloping quadriga driven left by charioteer holding goad, above trisceles, in exergue **SURAKOSIWN over AN monogram, dotted border, (cf.S.971; BMC 350, SNG Lloyd 1478 (same dies), cf.SNG ANS 637, cf.SNG Lockett 1022). Uneven flan on reverse, light grey tone, otherwise good very fine and very scarce.

Siculo-Punic, mint of the camp, (c.320-310 B.C.), silver tetradrachm of finest style, (17.06 grams), obv. wreathed head of Persephone (or Arethusa) to left, wearing triple pendant earring and necklace, four dolphins swimming around, rev. horse's head to left, palm tree behind, Punic legend, "MMHNT" below, border of dots, (S.6434, Rizzo Pl.66, 3; SNG Lloyd 1631 [same dies], Jenkins SNR 56, [Series 3a] 148 [same dies, O47/R133]). Flat on top of hair, otherwise very fine or better with a choice tone and rare thus. The coin is mounted within a silvered frame and can be viewed from both sides. It also has a brief description underneath and is encased in purple velvet.

Reverse weakly struck as typical for this series, (S.1315 [£6500], Sv.16 (p.9, Pl.II,4 [same dies], AMNG III/2 [p.56, 5] and pl. xxv, 18 [same dies]), Traite 1450 Pl.XLIV, 7 [same dies]. Svoronos report one example from these dies [same weight]). Very fine and very rare.
