New South Wales, fifteen pence or dump, 1813 (Mira dies C/4) (5.20g, 19.5x1.8mm). Rough punch marks on top right of crown and top centre of date, otherwise an excellent example of this crudely made variety, sometimes referred to as a contemporary counterfeit, extremely rare, one of the finest known of this die pairing.

Lot 1122 Sale 119 Holey Dollars & Dumps

New South Wales, fifteen pence or dump, 1813 (cfMira dies E/3) (4.8g). Appears to be struck on a cast blank that is underweight by twenty percent, the crown, letter, and figure punches conform with die E, however the die sinker Henshal has left out the L of WALES so it reads WAES, the word pence is out of alignment as a result of double entering, surface dents, edge milling mostly clear, otherwise fine, extremely rare if not unique.
