Sicily, Syracuse, Hieron II, (275-215 B.C.), gold drachm or sixty litrai (4.27 g), struck circa 275-263 B.C., obv. head of Persephone left with long flowing hair, wearing wreath of grain ears, single-pendant earring, and necklace, cornucopia behind, rev. charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving fast biga right, pellet below horses, **IERWNOS* in exergue. (cf.S.983, Hunterian 225, Boston 474, Carroccio 7). Minor scratch on horse, otherwise extremely fine or better and rare.

Thrace, Kingdom of, Lysimachos, (323-281 B.C.), gold stater, (8.52 g), uncertain mint but probably Byzantium, issued after 281 B.C., probably about 200 B.C., obv. head of Alexander to right, with diadem and horn of Ammon, rev. Athena enthroned to left, supporting Nike, spear behind, lion head to extreme left, to right **BASILEWS*, to left **LUSIMACOU*, trident in exergue, (cf.S.6813, Thompson -, cf.Seyrig "Essays in Greek Coinage" to Stanley Robinson, Plate 23, 9 [similar obverse die]). Of great rarity, unpublished, nearly extremely fine/extremely fine, of fine style and very rare.

Athena enthroned to left, holding Nike and resting left arm on shield, transverse spear resting against right side, to right **BASILEWS, to left **LUSIMACOU, **QEM below arm, TO on throne, trident below in exergue, (cf.S.6813, M.279, SNG Cop.1091). Extremely fine, off centred obverse and virtually as struck.

Zeugitana, Carthage, (possibly Siculo-Punic), (c.264-241 B.C.), the time of the First Punic War, electrum trihemistater or Attic tridrachm, (10.76 g), obv. head of Tanit to left wearing necklace with twelve pendants tied at back with ends hanging loosely, a triple pendant earring and a wreath of grain ears, rev. horse standing to right on exergual line with sun-symbol and two Uraeus-serpents above, (S.6474 [p.599], Jenkins Group Xa, cf.414, Weber 8491, SNG Cop.996). Minor flan crack at 12 o'clock, very fine style, otherwise good very fine/nearly extremely fine and rare.
