Sicily, Syracuse, Hieron II, (275-215 B.C.), gold drachm or sixty litrai (4.27 g), struck circa 275-263 B.C., obv. head of Persephone left with long flowing hair, wearing wreath of grain ears, single-pendant earring, and necklace, cornucopia behind, rev. charioteer, holding kentron in right hand, reins in left, driving fast biga right, pellet below horses, **IERWNOS* in exergue. (cf.S.983, Hunterian 225, Boston 474, Carroccio 7). Minor scratch on horse, otherwise extremely fine or better and rare.
