Police truncheon, painted wooden (length 46cm), the shaft painted dark blue and with 'S.C.' in yellow, used by the Special Constabulary during the strike by the Victorian Police Force in 1923. Special Constables were appointed uner the 'Unlawful Assemblies Act' and sworn in by Justices of the Peace, they had similar powers and authority to permanent sworn personnel. Very good. (6 items)
