Trade or advertising tickets by W.J.Taylor or related, all in copper (28mm); E.Parker Importer of Wines and Spirits etc, reverse Wine Vaults and Chichester Cathedral behind, dated 1831. Taylor's mule, the previous reverse with the obverse of the Dutton ticket following. The mule was attributed by Atkins (351) as a miscellaneous New Zealand token, hence it has held some interest for Australian collectors whereas Davis listed it as Warwickshire; even as recently as the Parsons sale in 1954 the Atkins attribution was followed. Victoria 5th October 1857 around young head left, WJT on truncation reverse the 1831 crypt of Cathedral scene. The same obverse with G.T. DUTTON, the celebrated 10s 6d Oxford Shoe etc (2) (see H.pp753-756.) Very fine - nearly uncirculated the second very rare. (4)
