A rare example with hand written 'Currency' under the crossed out In Spanish Dollars at 5s each, which marked the end of Spanish dollars being an official medium of exchange in Van Diemans Land. This note is with an issue date pre dating the 'Sterling Money Act. Corners, edges missing from both top left and right hand side of note, part of mounted papaer on back, otherwise good and very rare.

The Australian Joint Stock Bank Limited, Sydney, one pound, dated 1 January 1894, (date fully printed), numbered A 143560 A, signed for manager MacDonald signature and countersigned by Moriarty, on paper, watermarked but uncertain type, imprint of 'Perkins Bacon & Co Ld London', vignette in centre of Sydney Harbour, and ornamental circular tablets with 1 in all corners, and ONE POUND in tablet lower left, all within rectangular ornate border inscribed 'SYDNEY' on sides and 'NEW SOUTH WALES' above and below, states below, 'I Promise to pay the Bearer on Demand One Pound Sterling. For The Australian Joint Stock Bank Limited', back with bank building in centre, 1 in corners, legend around, blue on white, (Vort-Ronald, Type four (b) comments on bank and type p.46-51, similar issued note, illustrated Fig. 49 [p.51]). A few folds and creases, with thin lower right, otherwise fine and extremely rare, being second best of the three surviving reported banknotes.

The Bank of Australasia, Launceston, one pound issued at Hobart Town 3rd April 1850 (18--printed) No.36562 signed by Chas Thomson for manager entered by...uncertain signature. Imprint on centre of bottom of Perkins, Bacon & Petch, London. Vignette of Royal Arms in centre, all within rectangular spiral border with LAUNCESTON on three sides. This note mentioned in Vort-Ronald p60 also type 1(b), see p58 fig 56. Some pinholes, folds and creases, otherwise fine. The only known surviving not eof this type issued in Tasmania and as such possibly unique.
