PALESTINE, Roman Procurator of Judaea, Pontius Pilate, under Tiberius, (A.D. 26-36), copper prutah, (1.684 grams), obv. lituus surrounded by Greek inscription, [TIB]EPIOY KAICA[POC], rev. date within wreath but off flan either year 17 or 18 (= A.D.30-31), (S.5623, H.649-650 [114-5], AJC II Supplement V, No.23-24, Meshorer 230-1). Off centred flan, good metal, otherwise very fine.
